Your PBRS Opportunity

The tools and techniques outlined above are already being successfully applied beyond the Northwest and in sectors other than forestry. From tourism to the built environment, the techniques and approaches outlined above are designed to be replicated region-by-region, sector-by-sector. The intelligent woodlands that are making so great a difference in England’s Northwest could well be applied to enhance the delivery of public benefits through your regeneration or development programme.

PBRS is a strategic spatial planning tool that is going from strength to strength. It has helped to direct the pioneering, £23 million Newlands scheme and has been complemented by the Additional Value Assessment protocol to ensure that a real difference is made through the delivery of site reclamation.
And as the case studies earlier in this booklet have shown, the PBRS is also being used at a range of different spatial levels, where 3D modelling (as opposed to the 2D, flat mapping that was used within Newlands) is helping to make spatial decision-making a more intuitive process.

Finally – and perhaps most importantly for those delivering spatial projects beyond the environmental regeneration sector – the PBRS is showing real promise as a strategic planning tool for any intelligence-led, spatial investment programme. From housing, to culture, to transport, additional datasets can now be programmed into the PBRS framework to make it a robust and extensible tool that can help deliver better value for money and greater effectiveness across a wide range of public sector programmes.

Contact the PBRS partnership and discover this dynamic new tool for site-based analysis could unlock the public benefit in your initiatives.
