PBRS I - Social

Community woodlands (and other greenspaces) have been shown to have positive effects on quality of life. In addition to the visual amenity they provide for local communities, community woodlands and greenspaces offer opportunities for recreation and physical activity, and are known to improve both air and water quality - contributing to improvements in health and feelings of wellbeing.

The social benefit category in the DUN survey scored social deprivation attributes of:

1. Index of Multiple Deprivation (IMD)

2. Proportion of housing within 500m of a site

3. Site area

4. Presence or absence of designated Health Action Zones and Education Action Zones

5. Number of schools within 1 km of site perimeter.
