Attributes: PBRS I - Environmental

The benefits that new community woodland may bring to the environment are numerous. As well as contributing to improvements in air and water quality, woodlands also contribute to mitigating climate change, and increase biodiversity by introducing new habitats and providing wildlife corridors.

The following attributes were used in the environmental benefits category of the DUN survey PBRS:

1. Proximity to ancient woodland, existing woodland and woodland grant schemes (scored separately)

2. Proximity to areas of ecological interest

3. Proximity to water bodies and courses

4. Air Quality Management Areas (AQMAs)

5. Proximity to transport corridors

6. Site size
